Coach Gray Earns 100th Career Win

Balanced Scoring, Fast Start Power Winton Woods Girls to 56-11 Rout of Anderson

A dominant opening-quarter surge and balanced scoring effort carried the Winton Woods girls basketball team to a 56-11 win over Anderson on Friday, as the Warriors raced to a 21-0 lead in the first quarter and controlled the game the rest of the way.

Winton Woods set the tone immediately on both ends of the floor, blanking Anderson in the first eight minutes while building the 21-point advantage. The Warriors' pressure defense and up-tempo pace forced rushed shots and limited Anderson's half-court execution, allowing Winton Woods to convert stops into transition opportunities and early offense.

Seven different Warriors scored in the victory, underscoring a balanced attack that kept Anderson on its heels. Trenity Armstrong led the way with 12 points, providing consistent scoring touches in the lane and at the rim. Whitley Davis added 11 points, stretching the floor and capitalizing on defensive miscues, while Sydney Davis and Micala Reese chipped in 9 points apiece to round out a deep scoring effort.

With the early 21-0 cushion, Winton Woods maintained control through the second and third quarters, continuing to limit Anderson's looks at the basket. The Warriors' rotations and help defense held Anderson to just 11 points for the game, preventing any sustained runs and keeping the margin comfortably in double figures throughout the night.

The lopsided win also marked a significant milestone for head coach Carlton Gray. Now in his fifth season leading Winton Woods, Gray earned his 100th career victory with the program. The milestone comes with an overall record of 100-24, reflecting consistent success and postseason-level standards for the Warriors under his direction.

Winton Woods' combination of defensive intensity, depth of scoring and early execution highlighted the performance, as the Warriors used the 21-0 first-quarter burst to remove any doubt and turn the night into both a statement win on the court and a benchmark moment on the sideline for Gray's tenure.
